BEN MAYER

Cartographer of Interfaces

A quiet atelier for maps, heat, light, and gallery experiences on the open web — chiseled, faceted, and built to last. Every surface hand-cut; nothing assembled from prefabricated parts.

Chapter I — The Workshop

FEATURED WORKS

Four live artifacts. Each one approaches the web from a different angle of light.

Chapter II — The Creed

THREE TENETS

The principles every surface is cut against.

— I —

HAND-CUT

Every component shaped from source. No bloated kits, no generic patterns — the web deserves tools made with intent.

— II —

PERFORMANT

Load times measured in whispers. Interactions measured in single frames. Nothing shipped that cannot be justified.

— III —

LAYERED

Surfaces that reward the first glance and the hundredth. Depth hidden inside apparent simplicity.

Chapter III — Behind the Builds

Intentional digital
craftsmanship.

I build the web the way a jeweller cuts a stone: one facet at a time, testing the light against each surface. The goal is a final artifact that feels inevitable — as if no other arrangement of parts could have produced it.

My practice spans cartographic systems, thermal data visualisation, and photographic galleries built for the long tail of devices. If your project needs the thing itself, not the demo of the thing, we should talk.
